We interviewed HR specialist Aida Jäkkö, who is responsible for Loval's recruitment comprehensively and supports managers in recruitment. Aida's versatile role includes administrative work, employer branding, recruitment marketing, onboarding, and the management of several systems.
Loval Oy is a company founded in 1960 that has grown over the years into a significant player in the international markets for heating solutions and vacuum brazing. Today we employ over 400 people.
In this blog, we share how our customer Loval successfully carries out manager-led recruitment and how TalentAdore's recruitment system helps Loval improve its recruitment efficiency. But first, let's take a closer look at Loval as an employer!
Production and White-Collar Recruitment in an Agile Organization
"We have a really great atmosphere. At Loval, there are many people who have become friends through work and spend a lot of their free time together as well," Aida tells us.
Loval has an open and agile culture where collaboration between departments and people in different roles is easy and flexible. The organization is still small enough that no significant barriers to information sharing have developed. The company's values include respect for human rights, a smaller environmental footprint, and transparency.
Loval offers a truly diverse range of work for professionals with different areas of expertise. There is continuous recruitment for logistics and maintenance, as well as engineers for almost every department on the white-collar side. Recently, for example, reinforcements have been sought in quality control, process development, and the mechanical and automation fields.
A major focus in recruitment has also recently been on production operators. At this level, experience is not the most essential factor – attitude is what counts, and it is possible to get in without prior knowledge of the field.

Is attracting employees challenging at Loval? Aida describes the situation like this: "For very specific roles, it is challenging to find the right talent in this area. In Loviisa, the population base is such that there are not enough suitable people for Loval's needs, as we are growing at a really fast pace."
Recently, Loval has been reaching applicants well, but not all roles are equally easy to fill. The company also attracts people who commute from outside Loviisa, and significant investment is made in this.
"It is always worth applying to Loval – attitude is at the heart of what we look for, and there are positions open for many different types of professionals," Aida encourages.

Succeeding in Manager-Led Recruitment
"In our opinion, the TalentAdore application is a good and clear tool for managers to screen employees and review applications and CVs. We feel that the program does what it should, is easy to use, and is a clear overall package," Loval's managers summarize.
At Loval, in addition to Aida, department managers, production supervisors, and most often also the HR manager participate in recruitment. In addition to conducting interviews and making final candidate selections, the manager's role includes writing a guideline for the position as well as a job description. Depending on the role, some managers also handle candidate communication themselves.
How can manager-led recruitment succeed? Aida shares a few tips:
- Make a clear division of responsibilities and a recruitment timeline together with the managers.
- Give managers time to familiarize themselves with the recruitment system before independent use, and ensure that HR can agilely guide them whenever needed.
- Go through potential pitfalls in recruitment with managers so that you can address them in advance.
- Ensure a positive candidate experience. Make sure that communication and keeping candidates informed is carried out. Support managers in this when needed and share information within the organization about whether a candidate has, for example, applied or been interviewed before.
- Remove bottlenecks from managers' recruitment path. Support them in administrative work and also, for example, in final selections if necessary.
TalentAdore Hire Enables Recruiting as a Team
"It is important for us to be able to handle recruitments as a team. Fortunately, TalentAdore's recruitment system (TalentAdore Hire) makes recruitments involving several people easier," Aida tells us.
Loval adopted TalentAdore's recruitment system in autumn 2021 and has been very satisfied with how it has made the work of the entire team easier. In particular, managing large volumes of applicants and candidate communication have been major plusses. Tracking the recruitment pipeline – knowing what stage candidates are at – has also brought efficiency and confidence to the work.
What else has Loval benefited from TalentAdore's recruitment system? Aida summarizes three key benefits:
- Efficiency of the recruitment process: "TalentAdore makes it enormously easier to recruit when searching for several people for the same position."
- Talent Community: "The Talent Community has made our recruitments easier and faster, as people are already in the system. We can conveniently retain applicants' contact details even after recruitment processes have ended. We have had several situations where a candidate could not be selected during the recruitment, but was later contacted and hired when the situation changed."
- Excellent customer service: "Customer support works well. We have always received help from TalentAdore when we have needed and requested it."
